Ben Mezrich, the author that needs no introduction, the man behind several bestselling books and best known for “The Accidental Billionaires” that went on to become the Oscar nominated and Golden Globe winner for Best film, The Social Network, is now officially involved in the NFT space.
I’ve been a fan of his work and have been following this new project really closely, joining the discord group, and looking into the unique setup of how this project will provide utility for holders and its community, and distinguish itself from the millions of other NFT projects littered around.
Ben Mezrich NFT Roadmap
The Ben Mezrich NFT project consists of 3 NFT drops.
- Drop 1 – 6,000 piece collection revolving around the memestock and WSB saga. 0.06ETH to mint. The collection dropped 4th Jan 2022, and was sold out within 24 hours of public launch, following 24 hours of private whitelist launch.
- Drop 2 – A free NFT (gas payable) for every wallet that holds a Genesis NFT. These will be themed around bitcoins and billionaires.
- Drop 3 – 6,000 piece collection revolving around Vegas, card counting and beating the system.
Holders of all 3 tokens will then unlock a screenplay token, which is the culmination of Phase 1 of Ben’s NFT experiment. This screenplay token allows holders to participate in a revenue share of the monetization of a screenplay Ben will be developing around web3 and NFTs.
Am I vested?
Before the launch of the project, I had joined the discord channel, and had seen Ben’s interaction with the community. The community has also been highly supportive, encouraging, and generally been a fun bunch to “hang out” with.
Besides general chats, there were also specific chatrooms dedicated to watching a movie together and discussing it in real time, as well as a story-time channel where Ben gives us more insight and revelations into his projects, past and present.
It was really invigorating to be a part of the community, and as I was lucky enough to be a whitelisted member, I’m happy to report that I am, indeed, vested in this project and community.
My Ben Mezrich NFTs
I minted 2 of these bad boys during the whitelist event, and I am super fortunate to be one of the lucky few to have gotten a rare script score 3 token. What this means, is that when I get hold of the full set of 3 tokens, instead of 1 share of the screenplay monetization revenue, I will receive a 3 shares of the screenplay monetization revenue!
It is going to be difficult to pry the script score 3 token NFT off my hands!
Long term viability of the Ben Mezrich NFTs
Ben has stated multiple times across the discord channels that he is looking to build this NFT project over the long term, and that the screenplay token is merely a pitstop on a journey he wants to take us all on.
Drop 1 has already seen huge success, with the NFTs sold out within a day of public launch!
Given that this project lies in the intersection of Hollywood, Books and NFTs, and that Ben seems to genuinely be vested in, and has accordingly put in a lot of time chatting with us on discord, I believe this project will be a huge success.
At the very least, I’ll get an invite to a poker night with Ben in Vegas! I just need the rest of my crypto portfolio to moon so I can afford the flights and hotels. Come on Bitcoin, do something!
