How to earn crypto with crypto.com

how to earn crypto

Over the last month, I have been using the platform crypto.com’s various products and services to see how much cryptocurrency I can earn in a month, whether it’s by staking CRO, staking Bitcoin or just earning Spotify and Netflix rebates from them.

In this post, you will see exactly how much I can “earn” via each of these channels.

What is crypto.com?

For those of you who don’t know what crypto.com is, it is an easy-to-use, intuitive platform that allows you to buy and sell bitcoin and hundreds of other cryptocurrency.

Not only that, they have a range of metal VISA debit cards that gives you back 100% rebates off your spends on Netflix and Spotify!

All my earnings from crypto.com

Netflix and Spotify Rebates

Every month, I get 100% rebate from my Netflix and Spotify subscriptions as long as I use my crypto VISA card to pay for them.

I pay in cash, I get the rebates back in CRO. CRO is the token of crypto.com, and not only do I get back the full amount in dollar terms, those CRO may also appreciate in the future, and so it may be worth even more than I paid for in fiat.

Crypto.com has been growing in prominence in the blockchain space, and the recent announcement by VISA that they are piloting a programme where they will be the first major payments network to settle transactions with USDC, and that they chose to partner with crypto.com to do this, really proves to me that as a platform, they are here to stay, and as a token, CRO will grow in value.

Monthly earning: S$25.50

Staking CRO

One of the things I had to do when ordering my metal VISA card, was that I had to stake some CRO on the platform. The term stake means we have to place a certain amount of tokens on the platform, where they will be untouchable for a period of time, similar to a fixed deposit structure.

At the time, I had to stake 10,000 CRO to be able to get the card to qualify for the rebates. However, in staking the 10,000 CRO, just as you would when you have money in a bank or in fixed deposits, you get paid an interest.

In this case, I’m getting paid 10% p.a. on my 10,000 stake. The interest is paid out on a weekly basis.

This meant I was getting an additional 19.178 CRO in my wallet every Friday (yet another reason to celebrate Fridays).

Monthly earning: 76.712 CRO ~ S$23

Staking Bitcoin

Crypto.com also offers interest when you stake other coins. So, I thought.. if bitcoin were to become really mainstream, staking and earning interest on it will become as normal as earning interest on your cash in the bank!

With that in mind, I decided to try out staking a small amount of bitcoin on crypto.com for a month, just to have a sense of the process. So i experimented with staking 0.156BTC for a period of 1 month to earn 4.5% p.a. Based on those terms, after the one month period, my interest would have netted me an extra 0.00057699BTC.

Monthly earning: 0.00057699BTC ~ S$46.

In total, I have earned / clawed back a total of S$94 in a month’s time, all within the crypto.com app.

Not bad at all. If I were to choose the 3-month term for staking bitcoin, I will earn a 6.5% p.a., rather than the 4.5% for the 1-month term.

So if you’re considering getting into cryptocurrencies, I think crypto.com is a really great platform to get started with.

  1. Hi can i understand that such rebates amd earnings from the paid interest are unable to be transferred out to our bank account (eg DBS /posb) or converted to cash right?

    Thanks.

  2. Hi Jol, most crypto exchanges process withdrawals via xfers, a digital wallet product specific to Singapore. So you’ll need to have an account with xfers as well. Once that’s established, it’s pretty convenient to transfer it out to your bank account, if that’s what you want.

  3. Hi there

Thanks for sharing how u earn income on crypto.com.

Do u convert the cro earned (to stablecoins) to lock in the gains? Or allow them to compound? Interested to understand the strategy on taking profits on such gains.

    1. Hey Ci2fi,

Seeing that this year is more of a bull year, I tend to leave it to compound. I’m currently not holding on to any stable coins. Just letting it ride. Of course, everyone needs to adjust according to their risk profiles.
